Chelsea Waterside Park
Recreation $$
557 West 23rd Street, New York, NY 10011
Description
In spite of the fact that its initial history was associated with a working mechanical waterfront, its ebb and flow incarnation speaks to the recovery of the Hudson River and the upland properties for recreational utilize. In 1907, five years previously the survivors of the Titanic catastrophe were brought to close-by Chelsea Piers, a package of land north and east of the wharfs was vested to the city's Department of Docks, which regulated waterfront trade. In 1915, this package was exchanged to Parks, and in 1923 this little stop was named in memory of Thomas F. Smith (1863– 1923).Get to know Chelsea Waterside Park
