Description
Theatre Row is located in Midtown Manhattan between Ninth and Dyer Avenues. The name comes from the numerous Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway theatres that line the south side of the street. In the 1970s, it was an infamous area of brothels and peepshows, but a campaign to clean up the street was launched. Today, it is dominated by a large complex housing six small theatres: the Beckett, the Acorn, the Clurman, the Kirk, the Lion and the Studio Theatre.
It is currently home to several resident theatre companies including: Mint Theater Company, The Actor's Company Theatre, Keen Company, United Solo Festival, and Theater Breaking Through Barriers to name a few.
Theatre Row also operates 6 newly renovated underground urban rehearsal studios. Fantastic spaces for Dance, Rehearsal, classes, and meetings. Studio location and access is exceptionally private while still being easily accessible.
