Description
Casa Apicii is an Italian restaurant set in the garden level of a historic 19th century Greenwich Village townhouse serving Chef Casey Lane’s seasonal cooking. Lane, also the chef-owner of The Tasting Kitchen in Venice California, offers a menu rooted in fresh pasta and seasonal vegetable dishes in a well-appointed, lived-in neighborhood setting. Casa Apicii is named for the first century Roman gourmand Marcus Apicius and the fifth century treasure trove of recipes that his devotees, “the Apicii," memorialized. Casa Apicii is open nightly for dinner from 5:30 pm to 11:00 pm.
BAR FORTUNA
Bar Fortuna is a cocktail bar annex of Casa Apicii fashioned out of its 19th century townhouse's second floor chambers. There, head bartender Fabio Raffaelli is serving aperitivo-based and classic cocktail recipes in intimate, fire-lit quarters appointed with a mix of procured and salvaged Italian decor. In addition to Raffaelli's cocktails, Bar Fortuna and Casa Apicii's beverage program includes one of New York's largest grappa selections and fine Italian spirits. Bar Fortuna is open Tuesday - Saturday from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am. No reservations, no phone.
