Description
Energy is a necessary input to improving our quality of life and higher living standards. But energy production and consumption also has complex economic, geopolitical, security, and environmental impacts. Today, we are at a transformational moment in energy history. New technologies are unleashing vast new oil and gas resources at the same time that low-carbon technologies are rapidly advancing and climate impacts are felt more frequently and severely. Understanding the transformation of the energy system requires analysis from a trusted, objective source with a global perspective. Moreover, policymakers need information that can drive concrete and practical recommendations—as the decisions they make will affect whether we can successfully meet the challenges and opportunities presented by today's changing energy landscape. The Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University works to improve the quality of energy policy and energy dialogue through objective, balanced and understandable analysis.
