Description
The New York Rugby Club is the oldest rugby club in the United States, and fields highly competitive Men's, Women's, HIgh School Girls and High School Boys teams. The NYRC was founded to continue a tradition of excellence, sportsmanship and fun, on and off the field, that dates back to the formation of the NYRFC in 1929. We value our ties to a large alumni network as much as we strive to focus on the development of youth, high school, and collegiate rugby players in the greater New York metropolitan area. And always we work to develop our active players - numbering close to 250 men, women, boys, and girls - and give all levels of players and fans the opportunity to enjoy the best of what the game can offer.
The NYRC Women are the premier women's team in the New York City area. Having its roots in the Gotham City Women's Rugby Club, which voted to join the New York Rugby Football Club, Inc. in 1997, the Women have appeared in the last eight Division 1 USA Rugby National Club Championship Tournaments and finished 1# in the Nation in 2006. In 2009 the Women's Premier League began and played host to the top 8 teams in the country. NYRC is proud of its' Women's program for winning the inaugural WPL National Championship in 2009 and successfully defending the title in 2010.
